OBSERVANCE · KĀLA

Transit Observatory

Follow the changing positions and motions of the Navagraha as an ongoing field of observation. Move through a day, a week or a month, notice what actually changes, and keep a private record of what you observe.

Tropical Zodiac Geocentric Mean Rahu & Ketu
NORTH INDIAN OBSERVATORY

Transit Chart

Watch the Grahas move through a North Indian chart. Rāśi view keeps Aries fixed in the first field; Bhava view fixes the twelve Bhavas and calculates tropical Campanus cusps for the observer location.

Labels are grouped within their rashi or bhava. Degrees give the precise position. Select a Graha to open its study entry.

CALCULATION NOTE
Planetary longitudes are calculated geocentrically in the tropical zodiac. Rahu and Ketu use the mean lunar node, with Ketu exactly opposite Rahu. The Observatory separates the Rāśi field from the Bhava field. Rāśi view shows sign placement directly. Bhava view uses the observer's latitude and longitude to calculate a tropical Campanus framework, allowing the student to compare the sign-field with the changing spatial field without conflating the two.
NATURE, FUNCTION AND INTERPRETATION

Nine chapters for studying the Grahas through classical descriptions, technical conditions and psychological inquiry.

THE STUDY OF AVASTHĀS

Avasthas

A reference for the conditions of each Graha, their formation and their psychological interpretation.

DIRECTIONAL NATURAL RELATIONSHIPS

Who helps, hinders, or remains neutral to whom?

Rows are the subject Graha. Columns are the influencing Graha. Click any cell for the directional relationship and the Lajjitādi exceptions that can override the ordinary relation.
CLASSICAL TEXT AND INTERPRETATION

The Lajjitadi passages

BPHS 45.11–29, with the Svastha passage at 45.8 as a supplement. Each passage includes Sanskrit, IAST transliteration, a working translation and commentary.

Formation, strength and mixed results must be considered together. The historical passages on illness, children and spouses require particular care. Their literal wording and contemporary psychological commentary are presented separately.

PRACTICE

Avastha Workbench

Study a configuration, establish each cause and preserve your observations.

ONE-GRAHA FORMATION STUDY
Aspect qualifications

Enter these qualifications when the relevant Graha aspects the subject. Unconfirmed nature is excluded from confirmed relief. The workbench implements the Masters Course’s named cruel-enemy routes; additional Mercury-cruelty agitation interpretations require manual study.

How to enter this configuration
Seven subject Grahas, nine-Graha fieldThe formation engine studies Sun through Saturn as subject Grahas. Rahu and Ketu remain available as causative Grahas because they are central to Lajjita formation.
Degree-specific dignityThe workbench uses BPHS 3.49–54 to distinguish exaltation, mulatrikona and own-rashi portions. Enter the tropical longitude within the rashi.

Relationships to this Graha

Choose the actual relationship to the subject Graha. Same-lord links remain visibly weaker than actual conjunctions.

Recognition
The exercise rewards formation logic rather than speed. A student should be able to say exactly which Rāśi, conjunction, same-lord link, or aspect creates each condition.
